Ok all you wrenchheads out there...
My daughter's ride is a Honda 80cc with an automatic transmission. Since the weather has dropped into the 40s in the morning, the transmission (I am guessing) is making a metal on metal grinding sound. It only happens at faster speeds It does not happen on the ride home (70s)at a;;. I have not heard the noise myself since I have only checked it out during the day. This sound did not happen last winter. The scooter has 7400 miles on it and this has just started. Another subtle thing that I noticed was that there was a slight power drop going through 15mph that I never felt before.
Any recommendations about changing the transmission fluid (all 2oz. of it) Any special type? Should I prepare to pay someone to rip apart the engine/transmission?
By the way, with a 110 girl on it, that thing is pretty quick from a standing start. I followed her on the Savage and had a little kick keeping up with her. It was fun riding next to her on the road at 45mph. I don't think she appreciated it as much as I did.
Thanks for any feedback.
